About Shoden

Shoden (Jikiden Reiki Level 1) seminar is  two days long, usually 8 or 9 am till ~ 5 pm each day, and it covers Reiki history, essential Reiki techniques, first Reiki symbol and includes lots of hands-on practice.

Never Had Reiki Before?

If you are interested in learning Jikiden Reiki, but you've never had it before, please come in for a Taiken-Kai, which is a free Jikiden Reiki experience session. These sessions often coincide with our practice meetings, which will give you a special opportunity to meet our graduates and to experience Jikiden Reiki from several practitioners at the same time. Recommended Reiki Books

The following books are highly recommended for anyone interested in learning Reiki or learning more about its origins.
Jikiden Reiki training is quite rigorous. Although the initial certification takes only three days, most students choose to repeat the seminar several times. In addition, many practice hours are recommended as a part of your training.

After becoming a Jikiden Reiki Practitioner (completing Shoden and Okuden), some students choose to continue their training and become teachers (first Shihan-Kaku and eventually Shihan). (Of note, in Western Reiki styles Shihan-Kaku and Shihan are sometimes referred to as Masters.)

​A few exceptional teachers become Dai-Shihans. There just over a dozen Dai-Shihans in the world today.
